Privacy Policy

Writeit for Android — Effective date: 29 June 2026

In short: Writeit transcribes voice messages on your device. By default, no data leaves your device. Cloud features are optional and use EU-based servers.

1. Data Collection

On-Device Processing (Default)

Voice messages are processed entirely on your device using on-device AI
No audio is uploaded, stored, or transmitted
Transcription history is stored locally on your device only
No user accounts or registration required

Cloud Processing (Optional)

When you enable Cloud Mode:

Audio is sent to a secure server in the EU for processing
Audio (for transcription) and transcript text (for summarization and optimization) is forwarded anonymously to Mistral AI (EU)
No personal data (name, email) is sent with the audio
An anonymous device identifier (a random ID that cannot be linked to your identity) is sent with each cloud request so we can enforce per-user monthly usage limits. It is not used for tracking or advertising.
No audio is stored — it is processed in memory and discarded immediately
All communication uses HTTPS encryption

Subscriptions

Subscription purchases are handled by Google Play Billing
No payment information is processed by the App directly

4. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, you have the right to:

Access your data — all data is on your device, accessible to you
Delete your data — uninstall the App to remove all local data
Opt out of cloud processing — keep Cloud Mode disabled (default)

5. Children

Writeit is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

6. Data Retention

Locally stored transcriptions and settings remain on your device until you uninstall the App. No personal data is processed by advertising partners.

7. Security

On-device data is protected by your device's own security. Cloud communication is encrypted via HTTPS. Firebase App Check ensures only genuine app installations can use cloud features.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" above will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
