Privacy Policy

Writeit for Android — Effective date: 16 May 2026

In short: Writeit transcribes voice messages on your device. By default, no data leaves your device. Cloud features are optional and use EU-based servers.

1. Data Collection

On-Device Processing (Default)

Voice messages are processed entirely on your device using on-device AI
No audio is uploaded, stored, or transmitted
Transcription history is stored locally on your device only
No user accounts or registration required

Cloud Processing (Optional)

When you enable Cloud Mode:

Audio is sent to a secure server in Frankfurt, Germany (EU) for processing
Audio is forwarded anonymously to Mistral AI (Paris, France) for transcription and summarization
No personal data (name, email, device ID) is sent with the audio
No audio is stored — it is processed in memory and discarded immediately
All communication uses HTTPS encryption

Advertising (Free Tier)

The App uses Google AdMob to display ads to free-tier users
AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data as described in Google's Privacy Policy
Before showing personalized ads, the App requests your consent via Google's User Messaging Platform (GDPR compliant)
Premium users do not see ads

Subscriptions

Subscription purchases are handled by Google Play Billing
No payment information is processed by the App directly

4. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, you have the right to:

Access your data — all data is on your device, accessible to you
Delete your data — uninstall the App to remove all local data
Opt out of personalized ads — decline consent when prompted, or change in device settings
Opt out of cloud processing — keep Cloud Mode disabled (default)

5. Children

Writeit is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

6. Data Retention

Locally stored transcriptions and settings remain on your device until you uninstall the App. Data processed by advertising partners is retained according to their own policies linked above.

7. Security

On-device data is protected by your device's own security. Cloud communication is encrypted via HTTPS. Firebase App Check ensures only genuine app installations can use cloud features.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" above will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
